The Power of Showing Up—Again and Again
Smart cities know in-person engagement is indispensable to good governance.
Social media can help you share information, but it can’t build the kind of relationships that lead to effective governance. The truth is, the trolls too often drown out the voices you most need to engage with.
Cities like Temple and Georgetown get this.
Temple turned its city showcase into a true Community Summit—an event where residents could talk directly with the people who serve them.
Georgetown took the same idea and ran with it, inviting residents to see how their input shaped real plans for their city’s future (and got to enjoy a grazing table!).
These face-to-face interactions build trust and rapport—the kind that makes it possible to move big projects forward when it matters most.
This Friday, I’ll share how that same principle helped Round Rock earn one of its biggest economic development wins.
Onward and Upward.
