This week I’m at the annual TAMIO conference in Fort Worth, reconnecting with some of the best local government communicators in Texas.
But June 2 also marks a milestone for Good Government Files—our two-year anniversary! What started as a side project during my consulting transition has grown into a full-fledged community of local government pros trying to make sense of this wild, wonderful, often frustrating world of public service.
To mark the occasion, I’m doing two things:
Inviting you to our next GGF Office Hours on Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. CDT. The topic? “Stealing Ideas from Other Cities”—When is it smart, and when does it cross the line? We’ve got Meredith Haynes from McKinney and Richard Yeakley from Longview joining the conversation. Register here.
Resharing two of the most-read GGF posts ever. We’ll have one from Year 1, one from Year 2. I’ll drop those this Friday. Think of it as your Reader’s Choice Replay.
I fully expect to share highlights from TAMIO in an upcoming GGF. The agenda features lessons on AI, accessibility, design, leadership, influencer partnerships, internal comms, crisis response, and even what Fort Worth’s cowboy culture can teach us about content creation. There’s no shortage of smart ideas to borrow (and maybe steal)!
See you Friday for the replays. And don’t forget to register for Office Hours. We’d love to hear your take on what ideas are worth “borrowing.”
Thanks for being part of this journey. Whether you’re a longtime reader or new subscriber, I appreciate you. Let’s keep making government communication better—together.
Onward and Upward.
